Vince McMahon Comments on WWE’s PG Product & PPV Competition

- admitted at Friday’s shareholder’s meeting that WWE tries to avoid running pay-per-view events on the same weekend as boxing and UFC events.

– Vince also said that WWE is broadening their product a bit when a shareholder said WWE feels like it’s 1970’s or 1980’s comic book campy, and suggested they could be PG but more adult oriented. Vince noted that it’s important to go backwards in order to go forward, and they went so far in the other direction at one point that there was nowhere to go, but said they have no plans to go back in that direction. Vince said WWE can have a more aggressive and sophisticated product that appeals to various ages.

When talking about WWE’s PG product, Vince noted that a TV-MA rating turns sponsors away. Vince mentioned again that they can have a sophisticated product but be PG. He said WWE will be aggressive and entertaining but sponsors must know that the company won’t do anything outlandish.

pg is not problem in my book. the lack of matches and in ring action is problem. wwe needs to get better tag team and women who look good and can wrestle good. booking and creative writers is the problem.

Thats right Erik. Not only that, but the complete cheese of using guys who are not wrestlers, in matches. There is just way too much cheesiness in WWE programming these days, not enough focus on what the “superstars” are doing in the ring. I’m all for storylines, and great feuds, but it’s to the point where it is completely ridiculous now. Hiring soap opera writers to write for their programming? Come on! Old school fans, and new fans alike, we aren’t watching WWE for a soap opera, we are watching it for action.

PG is a good business. Yes it is.
But in my own opinion, PG or not PG, WWE is still leading against its competitor TNA.

You see, TNA is trying to be similar as WWE. One of the things they are getting from the WWE is changing TNA Impact to Impact Wrestling. In short, they changed their official color from Red to Blue. It is like saying they changed from RAW to SmackDown.

But what they are trying to copy from the WWE, is the way they make business. For example, the TNA Pay-Per-Views are not that very high as the WWE. I agree to some fans saying to this situation that TNA sucks. Yeah, it does sucks. They are not that entertaining, unlike in the WWE. Though WWE PPV buys are not that High due to the PG era, but you can see that many WWE Universe even some TNA fans wants to watch a WWE Pay-Per-View.

Because what can I say in this situation that, ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN IN THE WWE.

I guest WWE Rulez is right.
Though many fans are bored watching WWE due to PG, many still wants to know what is happening in the WWE. Many of whom I know who watches WWE still sometimes tries to watch WWE even though its not PG.

But I got to be honest, I am BORED of watching WWE today. I got interested on watching WWE, because of the involvement of many Hollywood stars and some famous guys around the world, like the return of Dwayne Johnson, who is now considered more famous than Hulk Hogan. Another is when Pitbull performed on Johnson’s Birthday, and more.

I got to agree to WWE when it comes to PG, because more and more stars, sponsors, and recognitions would be given to the WWE when they are PG.

But I just wished, that WWE would still be more aggressive. The last time they went more violent is 2008, which is still under PG. Why can’t they just do bring back the “chair shots” during PG, in which during the PG era in 2008, they still have the “chair shots” allowed. Also when PG started in the WWE last 2008, they still allowed to air Shawn Michaels busted open and bleeding in the ring ( I think this was on The Bash 2008), and now they censored guys who are bleeding?

Also, why can’t they be as entertaining as what happened during the 2nd Quarter of 2009, where DX returned, where John Cena vs Randy Orton is the most talked about rivalry for that time, and when stars are taking over Monday Night RAW.

I mean, if WWE wants entertainment under PG, then they must make sure it will entertain, not only those who are a member of the WWE Universe, but also those who are finding some entertainment such as those who are NOT WRESTLING FANS and just wanted to Entertained. This is what WWE must focused on, as they want to be known as the “GLOBAL LEADER in ENTERTAINMENT”, then they must prove that slogan is them.

“We Want Entertainment” This should be a good slogan for WWE.

I can recommend for WWE in order to be entertaining to many ordinary non-wrestling people out there, is by bringing in many famous Stars and Celebrities in the WWE. They must not complain about Talent-fees, since they are already a big time company.

But for the Wrestling fans, WWE must make matches violent enough that their moves are HIGH Flying, powerful slams and strikes, and NOT boo00ring submission moves in the middle of the match.

Using submission moves in the middle of the match is very boo00oring. They should show HIGH Flying moves, because it entertains many.

And not to forget, WWE has made the right choice of bringing back Dwayne Johnson. It is a one-step to making WWE big time and Entertaining, since “The Rock” is very entertaining, and thanks to his “Attitude Era” character that makes WWE entertaining as it was again.

Mate i think it would be better if the WWE hired back some of their non main event released talent over the years such as Paul Burchill,Benjamin and Haas(as a tag team),Tajiri,Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay and Rikishi,Snitsky,Sean O’Haire( as a manager atm because im not sure whether he is still in shape but if he came back with his devils advocate gimmick and manages a superstar it will defo bring back ratings),Mark Jindrak,JESSE and FESTUS(capped because they left WWE as Slam Master J and Luke Gallows),Kizarny(as part of a stable…he has a unique gimmick and he’s good with his fans plus he’s married to ex diva the kat), The Hurricane,Carlito(should of been in the main event picture),Bobby Lashley(exception to the main event comment i said before this list. imo he wasn’t used to his fullest and he was a great wrestler),McAllisters??(If they came back without their old comedic gimmick and allied themselves with Drew McIntyre they should get over),Deuce & Domino,The Boogeyman(The WWE needs a supernatural character in it at the moment since the Undertaker will be retiring soon and kane don’t cut it without his mask. Plus i liked The Boogeyman and thought he could of lasted longer and maybe have Papa Shango as a manager??),Eugene,Shad(to reunite with JTG),Rob Conway and Sylvan,Spirit Squad(i know they were annoying but maybe if they returned without the cheesiness and came back for revenge againt Dolph it might work),Rene Dupree,Marcus Cor Von,Heindenreich,Mexicools. To name some possibilites.
