– John Cena being busted open at last night’s Bragging Rights pay-per-view was not planned as he was cut by the corner of the box that surrounds the microphone. Word is that as soon as it happened, Vince McMahon yelled that Cena was to be cleaned up immediately.
Even though he wasn’t seen on camera, WWE’s John Laurinaitis ran down to ringside with the WWE trainers. The first time they tried to clean him off, he wasn’t aware of what they were doing and went for a babyface comeback on Randy Orton. Finally, they cleaned Cena off and glued the cut shut.
Sources say WWE wanted the blood cleaned up immediately because Orton and Cena were scheduled to go into the crowd and they didn’t want issues coming up with a bloody wrestler being among the fans and because they didn’t want to give people against Linda McMahon’s Senate campaign anything else to use against her.
The reason WWE stopped the clock during the match is because they didn’t know how long it would take to clean Cena’s cut and stop the bleeding because the blood wasn’t planned and they wanted it stopped immediately.
