This story led to speculation on some websites that SmackDown, already suffering viewership declines since moving to The CW, might face more trouble next season. A closer reading, however, reveals that the network is confident it will repeat last season’s 97% clearance; executive VP Paul Franklin says the clearance might even be higher than 97% come premiere week.
– WWE is advertising DX vs. Legacy in a steel cage match for the SmackDown and ECW tapings on September 1st at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. They’re touting it as the first time ever DX faces Legacy in a cage. The decision to put DX vs. Legacy on the card was to boost ticket sales for the TV taping which have been disappointing.
