Former WWF Wrestler Arrested This Weekend, SmackDown Note, More

– WWE developmental talent and former reality TV star David Otunga is getting a lot of mention on urban blogs and magazines for his wrestling gig since they can tie him into his fiance Jennifer Hudson.

– Brian sent the following: Just checked my cable guide and this week’s Smackdown will not air in its usual time slot in the New York area due to the 2nd round of the Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees. However unlike in previous years it has not simply been backed up 24 hrs. Instead it is currently listed as airing later that Friday night from 11pm-1am. Although a quick warning to anyone planning to use the DVR if the game goes longer than the currently scheduled 10pm, as is often the case, Smackdown will most likely be backed up even further.

– Former WWF wrestler Brian Blair, 52, was arrested early Sunday morning on two counts of child abuse. The former Hillsborough County Commissioner was arrested shortly after 5:00 a.m. following an altercation with his two sons at the family’s home in the Forest Hills area of Tampa.

According to The St. Petersburg Times, Blair pushed his oldest son Brett, 17, in the chest and then punched him in the face with a closed fist, leaving a red mark and causing swelling. Blair then allegedly put the teenager in a chokehold, causing him to have trouble breathing.

He then grabbed his youngest son, who is either 12 or 13, around the throat and punched him on the top of his head, leaving a bump. He is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Blair is perhaps best known for his partnership with “Jumping” Jim Brunzell as part of the masked tag team The Killer Bees. The two wrestled throughout the 1980s in the World Wrestling Federation.
