Just announced by THQ and JAKKS Pacific, this year’s edition of the world’s most popular fighting game, WWE , is currently in development for all major video game consoles.

The WWE Universe will be greeted by familiar faces when they see the headliners for this year’s game, some of WWE’s most popular and enduring Superstars.

, , , and are incredible WWE Superstars who represent the athleticism, creativity, individuality and strength of today’s live WWE programming,” said Brian Coleman, Vice President, Global Brand Management, THQ. “These powerful traits symbolize our vision to give players extensive creative freedom and make WWE the most authentic, entertaining and compelling simulation of live WWE programming to date.”

Already having shipped more than 47 million units worldwide since 1999, this year’s entry in the franchise will offer the WWE Universe a level of player freedom they have never experienced, allowing fans to step into the boots of their favorite Superstars again and again.

WWE is currently scheduled for a fall release, on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Wii and Nintendo DS. Make sure to check back with WWE.com as we reveal more information about the newest version of your favorite game.
