WWE RAW Results – May 18, 2009

Tonight’s WWE RAW kicks off live with the pyro as Michael Cole welcomes us to RAW. Voices starts playing as the WWE Champion Randy Orton makes his way to the ring and is introduced by Lilian Garcia.

Orton takes the mic and says as everyone can see, he is still WWE Champion. He says he wasn’t looking to just retain his title last night, he was looking to take Batista out for good. He said he was about to accomplish that when he was stopped by Ric Flair. Orton says Flair hasn’t liked him since their Evolution days. Orton says all he did was delay the inevitable. Flair’s music hits and out comes the WWE Hall of Famer.

Flair hits the ring to a big pop and struts in front of Randy Orton. Flair tells Orton he might still be the Champion but let’s get one thing clear – he did not beat Batista. The way Flair sees it, Orton was close to losing the match so he slapped the referee to get DQ’d. Flair mocks Orton. Flair says when it comes to Evolution, Orton was supposed to be the chosen one, the next big deal but Batista moved past him and became the man. Flair says Orton might have his own group now but until he beats the man, Whoooo, he has accomplished nothing. Orton says he’s wrong – the WWE Title means he is the man.

Orton says he can beat Batista anytime, anywhere. Flair says that’s good because he saw Vickie Guerrero earlier and she was upset about the DQ finish of the match last night. Flair says Vickie has made it official that Randy Orton will defend the WWE Title against Batista in a steel cage match at the Extreme Rules show in three weeks. Orton says he has a message for Flair to give Batista and he lays Flair out with a right hand and starts stomping away. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase make their way out to the ring. Batista comes from behind and lays Ted and Cody out. Orton stomps on Batista as he gets in the ring and Legacy take control.

Legacy beat down Batista and Flair until John Cena rushes out to the ring and make the save. Batista, Flair and Cena clear the ring as Legacy heads to the ramp. Flair’s music plays and there’s a staredown as RAW goes to commercial.

Back from commercial and we get replays of what just went down in the ring. Josh Matthews catches John Cena backstage and asks him why he just got involved. Cena says he’s heard critics talk saying he may have lost a step or two. Cena says with his back against the wall last night, he overcame and beat Big Show, silencing the critics. Cena says he doesn’t go looking for trouble and may the best man win at Extreme Rules between Batista and Orton, but it’s only a matter of time before the Champ is Here. Cena walks off and runs into Vickie Guerrero. She announces it will be Legacy vs. Batista and Cena for tonight’s main event.

#1 Contender’s Battle Royal: Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Mickie James, Rosa Mendez, Jillian Hall and Beth Phoenix
The winner of this match will get a Divas Title shot against Maryse, who is at ringside for commentary. Rosa gets eliminated first and Beth throws out one of the Bellas.

Other Divas go over and it’s down to four. Mickie eliminates Jillian and goes at it with Beth. Beth gets Mickie wrapped up in the corner and works her over. Kelly comes over and hits Beth. Kelly slides out of a hold and eliminates Beth. Beth comes back and drags Kelly by her feet, distracting the referee. Maryse takes advantage and sprays something in Mickie’s face. Kelly eliminates Mickie to win the match and earn a title shot.

Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero
Back from the break and we get a replay of last night’s pay-per-view where Chavo Guerrero attacked Santino. Santino makes his way to the ring first. Out next is his opponent, Chavo Guerrero.

The bell rings and Chavo attacks taking control. Chavo rips off Santino’s t-shirt and hits a big atomic drop. Santino stalls, playing a leg injury. Santino does some comedy and speed walks off the ropes. Chavo decks him to the mat and starts stomping. Chavo continues to dominate.

Chavo puts a boot in Santino’s back and makes him squeal. Santino tries to power out but Chavo slams him to the mat. Comedy as Chavo slaps Santino and he tries to power up Hogan style. Santino gets pissed on his feet and drops Chavo with a big right hand and a back elbow. Clothesline by Santino and he seems surprised at all his offensive moves. Back drop by Santino before running into a boot from Chavo. Chavo climbs to the top for the Frogsplash but Santino rolls out of the way too soon. Chavo gets down and charges Santino. Santino ducks and Chavo hits the turnbuckle. Santino rolls Chavo up for the pinfall and the win. Santino is shocked he won.

Winner: Santino Marella

After the match, Santino is celebrating when Chavo takes the mic. He tells Santino to go tell his sister Santina to get dressed because tonight she will be facing off against Vickie Guerrero. Back to commercial.

Back from commercial and we get another return promo for Mr. Kennedy, coming soon.

– We see Maryse backstage talking French. The Miz walks up and says he has no idea what she is saying, but it is really hot and makes some ridiculous face to her. She looks disgusted. He tells her that he is on RAW and undefeated against John Cena so she should tell her friends to see what he has in store for Cena tonight. Miz says Cena is just getting started with him and lames it some more before walking off.

– Josh Matthews is backstage with Matt Hardy. Hardy talks about MVP and his match tonight. He says the only reason Vickie Guerrero is giving him this title shot tonight is because he earned it and walks off.

– Vickie is backstage arguing with Chavo. She says he can’t make a match without her, especially a match with her in it. Randy Orton walks in and is pissed about the steel cage match at Extreme Rules. Vickie says she is the GM and doesn’t answer to anyone. Vickie says he needs to worry about his match later tonight. Orton tells her she needs to worry about staying on his good side before walking off. We get ready to go back to commercial break.

Carlito and Primo vs. Goldust and The Brian Kendrick

Back from the break and the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions are making their way to the ring in what appears to be a non-title match. Their opponents are already in the ring, the team of Goldust and The Brian Kendrick.

Goldust and Carlito start it off and go back and forth. Kendrick gets pissed and tags himself in, yelling at Goldust. Kendrick takes Carlito to the matr and puts on a submission move. Carlito fights to his feet but gets rammed back into the corner. Kendrick wants Goldust to get some cheap shots in but he won’t do it. Carlito fights off Kendrick and hits a nice dropkick.

Primo is tagged in and goes to work on Kendrick with a big flying elbow and a side Russian leg sweep for a 2 count. Kendrick goes for the Sliced Bread and Primo blocks it. Primo hits a crossbody for the pinfall and the win.

Winners: Primo and Carlito

After the match, Kendrick yells at Goldust in the ring, saying the loss is all his fault. Kendrick slaps Goldust. Goldust comes face to face with Kendrick when Hornswoggle runs from behind and hits his knees. Hornswoggle ends up sending Kendrick scurrying the floor. Horny’s music plays as he and Goldust celebrate in the ring.

– We see The Miz backstage and he’s dressed like John Cena and mocking him. It appears he’s headed to the ring as we go back to commercial break.

Back from the break and The Miz comes out to one of John Cena’s old rap songs, dressed like Cena. Miz says the big news coming off Judgment Day is that he is 4-0 against Cena. Miz talks about Cena’s song Word Life which we just heard and says he has a remix to it, one that will better suit Cena. It’s called Nerd Life: the story of John Cena. Miz starts rapping. Yep, rapping. Miz says we’re looking at the new face of Monday Night RAW. He gestures to the back and Cena doesn’t show. Miz declares this 5-0 against Cena. Miz says he is awesome when Jerry Lawler enters the ring with a mic.

Lawler enters the ring and says with that rap he just sang, the commercials are getting better ratings than RAW is. Lawler tells him just because he calls someone out and they don’t show, it doesn’t mean he wins. Lawler proves this by calling out Batista and says that doesn’t make him 1-0 against Batista. Lawler says Miz just doesn’t get it. Lawler says he is going to call out Bruno Sammartino, Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan, then calls them out. They don’t show and Lawler says he is trying to prove a point to Miz because all Miz is doing is talking out of his rear end. Lawler tells Miz to go to Vickie and ask for a match with Cena if he wants one so bad. Miz rips Lawler’s commentary and says maybe he will go talk to Vickie. The music hits and out comes Big Show.

Big Show enters the ring with a mic and says make believe time is over to The Miz. Show says Cena may think he’s done with him but he’s not done by far. Show says Vickie has made a match for Extreme Rules – John Cena vs. Big Show in a Submission Match. Show tells Miz until then, he’s just going to have to wait. Miz says that’s cool, he will wait… wait until Cena is done beating Show. Miz drops the mic like a kid and flees the ring. Out of nowhere Show attacks Lawler from the back and puts on that clutch hold he’s been using. Lawler passes out and Show stares around as the crowd chants for Cena. We get ready for another break.

As we’re going to break, we see WWE officials in the ring tending to Jerry Lawler. Back from commercial and Jim Ross is on commentary with Michael Cole. They play clips of Big Show attacking Jerry Lawler and really sell it.

WWE United States Title Match: Matt Hardy vs. MVP

Lilian Garcia is in the ring doing introductions as Matt Hardy makes his way to the ring first, still with his cast on. Out next is the WWE United States Champion MVP.

The bell rings and they lock up with MVP getting an early 2 count. Hardy also gets an early count. MVP works Hardy over in the corner now with knees. Matt dodges a kick and goes to the apron. MVP suplexes him back in for a 2 count. MVP with a backslide and a 2 count. Hardy counters and drops MVP for a 2 count of his own. Hardy takes the padding off one of the turnbuckles and takes MVP’s knee out with his cast as the ref’s back is turned for a 2 count. Hardy in control now, working on the knee.

Hardy with another 2 count after working on the knee. MVP finally fights off and hits Hardy with rights and a big sideslam for a 2 count. MVP hits his Ballin’ elbow drop for another 2 count. Hardy pulls MVP and sends him out to the floor. Hardy works on the knee on the floor but charges with his cast, MVP ducks and Hardy hits it with the ring post. Back in the ring now and MVP hits Hardy with more rights and knocks him down. MVP stands on Hardy’s cast and stomps on it.

MVP stomps on the cast again and hits his running kick in the corner on Hardy’s face. MVP nails the Playmaker to get the win and retain his United States Championship.

Winner: MVP

After the commercial, backstage we see Ric Flair in the locker room smiling. Batista walks in and asks what’s up. Flair says next week on RAW, he is going to come out, call out Randy Orton and beat him up. Batista says Flair is retired and has nothing to prove. Flair says he is retired but can still fight. Flair is excited. He says they retired him, he didn’t want to retire. Flair says he can do it better than most guys in WWE. Flair gets a little pissed and walks off.

– Chavo Guerrero is in Vickie’s dressing room, laying on the floor. Vickie is up on the couch and he’s trying to get her to do a Frogsplash. Vickie won’t do it and says the match is off. Santina walks in and says too bad. She makes pig jokes and Vickie says the match is back on. Santina walks off and we go back to commercial.

Miss WrestleMania Crown Match: Vickie Guerrero vs. Santina Marella

Lilian Garcia announces this match is for the Miss WrestleMania Crown. Out first is the crown holder, Santina Marella. Vickie Guerrero comes out next with Chavo Guerrero trying to encourage her. Cole points out this is Vickie’s first time competing in a WWE ring. antina takes the mic and says she knows Vickie is jealous of her body and mocks her. Vickie slaps Santina.

‘Santina talks about being a lesbian and liking it rough. She kisses Vickie and says she has never tasted something like that before… no yes she has, and it was called the other white meat – pork. Chavo gets in the ring and says now this match is a No DQ match. The bell finally rings. Vickie looks scared as Santina corners. Chavo comes in and decks Santina, knocking her down. They trade shots on the floor as Vickie looks on and screams. Chavo charges Santina but gets dumped to the floor. Out of nowhere comes William Regal. Regal destroys Santina and hits a big suplex. Vickie takes advantage and covers Santina to become the new Miss WrestleMania as announced by Lilian. Vickie celebrates in the ring as Chavo gives her the crown and sash.

– Backstage we see Legacy making their way to the ring for tonight’s main event as we go back to commercial.

Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase vs. John Cena and Batista

Back from the break and Voices plays as Legacy make their way to the ring for tonight’s main event. Orton poses with his WWE Championship belt. Out next is Batista to a big pop from the crowd. Batista’s partner John Cena is out next and rushes the ring as Legacy scatters.

Cena and Cody start the match off and a counter from Cody gives him the upperhand. Orton is tagged in but Batista is tagged in also and Orton flees to the floor to regroup. Ted is tagged in and he gets rocked by Batista and hit with a big clothesline. Batista and Cena send Cody and Ted to the floor. Orton tries to sneak in from behind but they turn around. We go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Legacy is in control. Orton rolls Batista back in the ring for a 2 count. Orton starts stomping and working on Batista for a 2 count. Ted comes in and also gets a 2 count on Batista. Ted starts dropping elbows for yet another pin attempt. Ted with a headlock now as Cena looks on. Batista starts getting to his feet and breaks the hold. Ted kicks Batista in the head and tags in Cody. Cody comes in and starts stomping on Batista for a 2 count.

Ted comes back in and they double team Batista. Ted with right hands on top of Batista. Batista breaks loose again and both men go down. Cody and Cena are tagged in at the same time. Cena hits his usual series of power moves on Cody and hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena lifts Cody for the Attitude Adjuster but Cody tags in Orton. Cena hits the move on Cody and pins him but Orton is the legal man. Orton comes in and attacks Cena, beating him down. Orton starts dropping knees on Cena.

DiBiase gets a cheap shot in on Cena while the ref was distracted. Orton continues to stomp on Cena in Legacy’s corner. Ted is tagged back in and goes for a knee drop off the top rope. Cena moves but still gets dropped with a clothesline. Ted starts dropping fists to the face and gets a 2 count. Cody comes back in for some more double teaming on Cena. Submission hold by Cody now on Cena.

Cena fights back but Cody hits his moonsault off the top rope for a 2 count on Cena. Orton is tagged back in and starts kicking Cena. Orton beats Cena back to the mat now and Ted gets in some more cheap shots. Cena gets to his feet and starts fighting back but Orton lays him out again. 2 count by Orton. Orton locks on a headlock now and wears Cena down. Cena tries to make it to Batista and does. Batista comes in and unloads with rights on Orton and a splash in the corner. Batista powerslams Orton for a close 2 count.

Big Show comes out but we barely see him. He and Cena fight it out up the ramp. Batista spinebuster’s Orton and clears the ring of Cody and Ted. Ric Flair comes out, but we barely see him too. Looks like he hits Cody. Batista nails the spear in the ring on Orton to get the pinfall and the win.

Winners: Batista and John Cena

– Legacy retreats up the ramp to recover. Ric Flair and Batista celebrate in the ring and Flair is super excited. We get a replay now and see Flair run down with a chair behind Big Show and knock Cody off the top rope. Batista and Flair keep celebrating in the ring as RAW goes off the air.
