WWE RAW & Draft Results – April 13, 2009

Monday, April 13th, 2009

– Tonight’s special three-hour RAW kicks off with a video package showing Vince and Orton’s interaction last week and the return of Batista. The pyro hits and we’re live in Atlanta, GA as Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcome us and plug the WWE Draft. We go to Todd Grisham and who are also on commentary. They cut to and Josh Matthews, representing ECW. Tonight we will have WWE Draft pick matches and a 15 man tri-branded battle royal. Also tonight, will take on Jack Swagger.

– Batista’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring to a big pop. The Animal enters the ring and takes a mic, saying how good it feels to be back. He says what drove him to come back was retribution for the attack from Randy Orton a few months back, which we see a replay of. Batista says that is all he has thought about for four months now and the worst part was just sitting around waiting.

Batista says he is back and tells Randy Orton to come out and fight like a man. If he doesn’t, Batista will tear the place apart trying to find him. Orton doesn’t come and Batista says fine, have it your way. Shane McMahon’s music hits and out he comes, dancing across the stage.

Shane says Orton is his. The WWE Champion comes out next and tells Shane that everything that is happening is because of him, what Orton is trying to do to him. says Orton is his. EXCUSE ME! EXCUSE ME! Vickie Guerrero is on the ramp getting tons of heat. She says the only person who will determine who will face Orton is her, the new RAW GM. Vickie plugs the match at Backlash. Vickie says if they become DQ’d or counted out at Backlash, Orton can become the new WWE Champion. She says Orton has the night off tonight, but Shane, and Batista will face Cody Rhodes and in a handicap match tonight. If Legacy wins, nobody faces Orton in singles action. If the other team wins, whoever gets the pinfall gets a singles match against Orton on next week’s RAW.

– Up next we will see take on for the first WWE Draft pick. We go to commercial.

Rey Mysterio vs. Evan Bourne

Back from commercial and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring. Evan Bourne is out next and the winner of this one gets the first Draft pick for his brand.

The bell rings and they start up testing each other out. They lock up and go back and forth with some nice wrestling. Rey goes to the apron and Bourne goes to sunset flip him to the floor. Rey counters and they go at it on the floor now. Drop toe hold by Rey on the floor. Back in the ring and Rey gets a 2 count. They trade shots and Rey comes off the ropes but Bourne drops him for a 2 count.

They go at it again and Bourne drops Rey with a kick and a standing moonsault for a 2 count. Bourne goes to the top but Rey counters. Rey nails the hurrancanrana off the top and gets a close 2 count on Bourne. Rey counters and drops Bourne for the 619 and nails it. Rey goes to the top and nails the splash for the pinfall and the win.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

– The WWE Draft picker flashes on the screen and the first pick for RAW is the WWE United States Heavyweight Champion MVP, coming from SmackDown. MVP appears on the stage as his music plays and he hypes up the crowd.

– Backstage we see making his way to the ring. We go to commercial.

– Back from commercial and we see WWE Hall of Famer Chief Jay Strongbow in the crowd watching RAW.

Kane vs. The

The pyro explodes and Kane makes his way to the ring, representing RAW for the next Draft pick. Out next is The Brian Kendrick with Ezekiel, representing SmackDown.

The match starts with Kendrick taking a cheap shot. Kane goes after him as he runs around the ring. Kane meets Ezekiel on the floor and lays him out with a big boot. Kane throws Kendrick in the ring but walks into another cheapshot. Kendrick comes off the ropes but Kane counters with a huge chokeslam. Kane gets the squash.

Winner: Kane

– The WWE Draft picker flashes on the big screen as we get ready for the next pick. It’s The Big Show! Show is coming to RAW. He comes out on the stage and raises his hand in the air as Kane looks on from the ring.

– Cole and Lawler plug the Handicap match for later tonight as we go back to commercial.

– Back from commercial and Vickie is backstage with Chavo talking about how nice it is to be on RAW. Randy Orton comes in and tells Chavo to take a walk. Vickie says no, he stays. He asks her what she was doing about those stipulations earlier and says she can’t pull that stuff here on RAW like she did on SmackDown. Vickie changes it and says if Rhodes and DiBiase get the pinfall tonight, then whoever they pin has to face Legacy in a 3 on 1 match at next week’s RAW.

– We see John Cena in the back talking to someone. ECW Champion Jack Swagger walks up and says after he beats Cena tonight, WWE will have a new poster boy and his name is Jack Swagger. Cena introduces himself to Swagger and mocks the “All American American” name. Cena says Swagger is a punk kid with a few wins under his belt and says tonight, he gets a lesson in respect. Not a bad promo.

– We see Melina, Kelly Kelly and what looks like Mickie headed to the ring as RAW goes back to commercial.

Melina, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James vs. , Michelle McCool and Natalya

Back from commercial and WWE Divas Champion Maryse, Natalya and Michelle McCool are in the ring representing SmackDown. Out comes WWE Women’s Champion Melina, Mickie James and Kelly Kelly for RAW.

The match starts with all the Divas brawling. The bell finally rings and it’s Mickie and McCool going at it in the ring. McCool is in control until Mickie counters and dropkicks her in the face for a 2 count. Mickie drops McCool out of the corner now and goes to the top. McCool knocks Mickie out of the air hard and pins her for the pinfall and the win. That’s it.

Winners: Maryse, Michelle McCool and Natalya

– The WWE Draft graphic flashes through the roster and it’s going to be WWE Women’s Champion Melina going to SmackDown. Melina is in the ring and taunts the SmackDown Divas.

– Backstage we see John Cena headed to the ring for his match with Jack Swagger as we go back to commercial.

Jack Swagger vs. John Cena

We get a rundown of the Draft picks so far. Lilian does the introductions for this match and says it is for two Draft picks. Out first is World Champion John Cena, representing RAW. Pretty huge pop for Cena. Out next is the ECW Champion Jack Swagger.

They go at it to start the match and Swagger ends up beating Cena from corner to corner. Swagger is in control taunting Cena. Swagger nails a big clothesline on Cena for a 2 count. Cena fights back but Swagger counters and locks a full nelson, wearing Cena down.

Cena tries to break the hold but can’t as Swagger keeps it locked tight. Cena finally powers out and drops Cena with a shoulder. Big side slam by Cena. Cena hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle and goes for the former FU. Swagger hangs on to the rope and counters the move to drop Cena. 2 count by Swagger. Swagger is in control as we go back to commercial.

Back from commercial and Swagger is still in control. During the break, Cena was knocked off the apron into the announcer’s table. Both men are down in the ring now as the ref counts. They get up and trade shots. Swagger drops Cena and gets another 2 count. Swagger hits Cena with a big high knee for another close 2 count. Swagger drops Cena again with one of his finishers for another 2 count. Cena catches Swagger off the top with the former FU and nails it. Cena locks on the STF and Swagger taps out for the loss.

Winner: John Cena

– The Draft ticker goes through the roster and the next pick is going to see Matt Hardy come to RAW from SmackDown. Matt comes out on the stage and looks to the ring at Cena. The ticker starts again and the next pick will see WWE Champion Triple H come from SmackDown to RAW. The Game’s music hits and out he comes to the stage as Cena looks on. Cena and Triple H acknowledge each other with Triple H looking a little cocky.

– Out of nowhere, Edge comes through the crowd and attacks John Cena in the ring. Edge works him over until Cena grabs him up. Edge slides out of it and rolls to the floor. Cena’s music plays as Edge stares him down from the ramp.

– Backstage we see Randy Orton pacing around. Cody and Ted walk up. Orton reminds them what’s on the line tonight if they win or lose for next week’s show. Cody and Ted talk about pitting their opponents against each other tonight and getting them DQ’d. Orton says he likes it.

Santino Marella vs.

Santino Marella is making his way to the ring for the next match to gt a Draft pick. No word yet on where Santina is tonight. We go to commercial before we find out who Santino’s opponent is. Back from the break and we see a reply from last week of vs. Santina. Representing SmackDown, out next is The Great Khali to try and win a Draft pick.

Beth Phoenix and Rosa come to the entrance. She says she talked to Vickie earlier and if Santino loses this match, his twin sister Santina has to be a guest on the Khali Kiss Cam next week. They come face to chest in the ring and Khali drops Santino with a big right. Santino hugs the ropes. Santino runs the ropes and Khali drops him. Big chop by Khali for the pinfall and the win.

Winner: The Great Khali

– As Khali celebrates, the WWE Draft picker starts up again and this time it’s going to be going to SmackDown. Punk comes out with his MITB briefcase to a nice pop.

– We see John Morrison and headed to the ring as we go to another 12 Rounds plug and commercial break.

The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston

Back from the commercial and The Miz comes out representing ECW with John Morrison right behind him. His opponent is going to be Kofi Kingston for the RAW brand. Kofi comes out to a nice pop.

Kofi and Miz lock up to start the match Miz locks on a side headlock and they go to the mat then right back to their feet. Kofi with a headlock now and a shoulder sending Miz to the mat. Headlock by Miz now but Kofi fights out. Kofi ends up hitting an elbow to the face for a 2 count. Arm bar applied by Kofi now. The Miz drops Kofi with a right hand and keeps in control.

Kofi dumps Miz to the floor where Morrison is. Kofi almost flies over the rope onto them but stops. He ends up leaping and knocking Miz down. Back in the ring now and Morrison distracts Kofi on the apron and Miz kicks him back to the floor. Miz works Kofi over on the floor now. Miz with another headlock in the ring now. Kofi gets up but Miz takes him right back down. Miz drops a few knees and puts the headlock back on. Kofi finally fights out of it but Miz bulldogs him into the corner. 2 count by Miz. Miz continues to dominate with another 2 count. Real bad match here.

The end finally looks like it’s coming when Kofi nails a move off the ropes and goes the the big elbow but Miz rolls out. Kofi hits a big kick to the face out of nowhere and a leap off the top rope but only gets a 2 count from it. Miz gets another close count. They go back and forth and Kofi hits the leg sweep and big leg drop for the close pinfall. More close pinfalls… why don’t they just end it already? They roll each other up for another close fall. Morrison goes to hit Kofi while on the top rope and the referee sees it. He disqualifies Miz.

Winner by DQ: Kofi Kingston

– The Draft picker goes through the roster again and this time it’s going to be The Miz coming to RAW. Morrison and Miz look at each other with shock in the ring. They hug before Miz kicks Morrison in the gut and hits him with the big knee to the face. Miz stands over Morrison as Cole and Lawler plug the tri-branded battle royal which is next.

Tri-Branded Battle Royal: Big Show, MVP, Shad, JTG, Mike Knox vs. , Paul Burchill, Tyson Kidd, Mark Henry, John Morrison vs. , Edge, R-Truth, , Primo

The RAW team is out first followed by ECW and then SmackDown. The winners of this get two picks for their brand. Everyone starts going at it and it’s crazy. Ricky goes out. Big Show dumps Chavo over the top. Knox, Truth, Shad, Primo, Tyson are all eliminated quick. Show and Henry are dominating. Show eliminates Carlito. Edge gets out Finlay. MVP is eliminated by Henry. It comes down to Edge, Show and Henry. Show grabs Edge and chokeslams him. Show grabs Henry and they go at it on the apron. Show eliminates Henry with a right hand to the face. Show and Edge are the last ones in. Show charges at Edge but he moves out of the way. Show goes tumbling out of the ring and Edge gets the win for SmackDown.

Winner: Edge

– The WWE Draft picker starts and it’s going to be Kane going to SmackDown first. The pyro explodes and out he comes. He and Edge exchange a stare. The ticker starts up again and this time it’s going to SmackDown. Jericho comes out and also shares a look with Edge.

– We go back to commercial.

Christian Cage vs.

Christian comes out to a nice pop next representing ECW. Out next is Shelton Benjamin for SmackDown. Shelton attacks hard and goes to work on Cage with a big suplex and nasty kicks. 2 count by Shelton. Christian ends up dropping Shelton in the ropes and using them against him. Shelton catches Cage on the top rope and suplexes him over his head to the mat sending Cage out to the floor.

Shelton continues to control with a knee to the spine of Cage. Shelton drives his knee into Christian’s back now. Cage fights to his feet and hits Shelton with rights. Cage works him over in the corner now. Shelton goes to counter but can’t hit it. Cage drops him with big rights again. Shelton nails a nasty backbreaker on Cage for another 2 count. Cage catapults Shelton from the corner but he lands on his feet and his a back elbow. Christian pulls the Unprettier out of nowhere to get the pinfall and the win.

Winner: Christian Cage

– The Draft picker starts again and this time it’s going to be going to ECW from SmackDown. Kozlov comes marching out on the stage and stares down Christian in the ring. We go back to commercial.

– Backstage we see Triple H backstage getting ready. Shane comes walking in and says Orton is his. Triple H tells him to stand out of the way, Orton is his. He says if Batista was here, he’d say the same thing. Batista is behind his back. Batista says he is cool with that and walks off. Shane says see you out there before walking off too.

CM Punk vs. Matt Hardy

Money in the Bank winner CM Punk is out first for the SmackDown brand. His opponent is going to be Matt Hardy representing RAW. The bell sounds and they lock up. Near falls to start the match. Hardy ends up locking an abdominal stretch on Punk and holding it.

Punk fights out and kicks Hardy, dropping him. Big clothesline by Punk and a dropkick off the ropes for a 2 count. Punk counters a bulldog and hits the big knee in the corner for another 2 count on Hardy. Punk picks Hardy up for the GTS but he counters. Side Effect by Hardy. Jeff Hardy comes running in from the crowd and the referee calls for the bell. Jeff lays out Matt with the Twist of Fate and goes to the top. Matt rolls out of the ring and Jeff chases him to the back.

Winner by DQ: Matt Hardy

– CM Punk is pretty pissed in the ring as the Draft ticker starts up again. This time it’s going to be Divas Champion Maryse heading to RAW. Maryse comes out looking sexy and poses for the crowd.

Chris Jericho vs. Tommy Dreamer

Back from a break and Chris Jericho representing SmackDown comes out for the next match. His opponent will be Tommy Dreamer, trying to score a pick for the ECW brand. They lock up and Jericho knocks Dreamer down first with a shoulder. Big hip toss by Dreamer and another. Dreamer sends Jericho over the top to the floor.

Jericho beats Dreamer down in the corner and kicks him in the back. Dreamer counters a suplex attempt and drops Jericho. Dreamer runs into a big boot in the corner. Jericho puts the boot to Dreamer’s throat as the ref counts. Jericho splashes Dreamer on the middle rope now and locks on a modified sleeper hold.

Dreamer fights back and clotheslines Jericho twice. He tosses Jericho on the top turnbuckle and kicks him in the gut. Dreamer chants ECW and dropkicks Jericho in the corner. Dreamer goes for the DDT but Jericho locks it into the Walls of Jericho but Dreamer kicks him away and cradles for a 2 count. Sit down powerbomb by Dreamer for another close 2 count. Dreamer goes to the top but Jericho drops him down on the top turnbuckle. Jericho goes to the top with him but gets shoved down to the mat. Boot to the face by Dreamer. Dreamer leaps off the top and Jericho catches him in the Codebreaker for the pinfall and the win.

Winner: Chris Jericho

– The Draft picker starts once again and this time it’s WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio headed back to SmackDown. Rey comes out and holds his title in the air and stares down Chris Jericho in the ring.

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase vs. Triple H, Batista and Shane McMahon

We go over the WWE Draft picks so far for tonight. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase come to the ring for tonight’s main event as we go to commercial break.

Back from the break and the WWE Champion Triple H makes his way to the ring where Cody and Ted are waiting. Out next is Shane McMahon, doing his dance. Out next is Batista who probably gets the biggest pop of the three. The match starts with Shane nailing Ted and going to work on Cody while HHH and Batista argue. Shane continues the assault on Cody and rocks him with rights and lefts. Shane dances around and Batista tags himself in, which pisses Shane off. Batista goes to work on Ted now. Batista scoops Ted on his shoulder but Triple H pulls Ted’s leg and tags himself in on Batista.

Triple H goes to work on Ted and nails the knee to the face and a clothesline for a 2 count. Triple H goes for another pin and Batista stops it. They argue while Ted attacks HHH from behind. Cody is tagged in and he goes to work on Triple H in the corner. Ted comes back in for some double teaming. Ted drops elbows on Triple H now and locks the leg up. DiBiase drops him with a dropkick and gets a 2 count. Cody comes back in and keeps working on the leg of Triple H. HHH fights back but Cody gets two 2 counts in a row. Ted comes back in and yanks Triple H’s leg over the apron and mounts him for a series of rights.

Ted gets another 2 count on Triple H. Ted goes face first into the middle turnbuckle pad. Triple H goes to make a tag but Ted drags him back and Cody comes in to work on the leg some more for another 2 count. Triple H backdrops Cody and is holding his knee. Batista and Shane wait for the tag and Batista gets it. Ted comes in also but Batista drops him and nails a big backdrop. Batista decks Cody off the apron and scoops Ted for a big powerslam and 2 count. Shane sends Cody back to the floor. Batista catches Ted with a big spinebuster and gets pumped. Batista nails the Batista Bomb for the pinfall but Shane breaks it up. Shane and Batista argue and he shoves Shane back. Triple H tags himself in. Batista turns around and Shane spears him. Triple H takes advantage and Pedigree’s Ted for the pinfall and the win.

Winner: Triple H

After the match, Triple H, Shane and Batista stand over Ted in the ring and look at each other. Voices starts playing as Randy Orton comes to the stage and stares down everyone in the ring. It will be Orton vs. Triple H on next week’s RAW. Orton and Triple H stare each other down as RAW goes off the air.
