WWE RAW Results – March 16, 2009

– Tonight’s WWE RAW kicks off with a video package with highlights of last week’s contract signing where John Cena put himself in the WrestleMania match with Edge and Big Show for the World Title. We see the footage again of Vickie Guerrero and Big Show making out.

– We’re live in the arena with Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler from San Antonio, Texas. They announce Edge vs. John Cena tonight with Vickie Guerrero as the special referee and an update on Randy Orton and Triple H from last week.

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker vs. JBL and Vladimir Kozlov

Shawn Michaels’ music hits in the arena and out he comes to a huge pop. HBK enters the ring as the lights go out and The Undertaker makes his entrance. Taker locks eyes with Shawn as he gets ready in the ring. Out next is their opponents, the WWE Intercontinental Champion JBL followed by Vladimir Kozlov.

It’s going to be Shawn and Kozlov starting the match out. Vladimir throws Shawn to the mat but he comes back. Taker is tagged in early to come in and duke it out with Kozlov. Taker dumps Kozlov over the top rope and to the floor. Taker exchanges some looks with HBK as we go to commercial break.

Back from commercial and Taker is working on JBL’s arm. HBK is tagged in and hits JBL with a big chop. HBK hits the atomic drop, more rights and a body slam on JBL before climbing to the top. HBK drops the big elbow on JBL and gets the crowd pumped as he gets ready for Sweet Chin Music. Kozlov charges HBK but Shawn ducks it. JBL hits Shawn with a big clothesline and tags in Kozlov. Vladimir comes in and starts pounding on HBK. HBK counters and hits some chops on Kozlov. Kozlov grabs Shawn and hits those headbutts to the chest, a slam and a 2 count.

JBL gets tagged in now and goes to work on HBK. 2 count by JBL. He tags back in Kozlov who goes to work on HBK in the corner. Kozlov applies a bearhug to Shawn and holds the pressure as Taker looks on. HBK fights out of the hold but walks into a chokeslam. HBK counters the chokeslam with a DDT and both men are down. JBL and Taker are tagged in at the same time. Taker unloads on JBL, fighting him back into the corner. Taker with a big splash in the corner and another. Taker hits the old school on JBL and decks Kozlov. Taker scoops JBL and hits Snake Eyes and a big boot to the face. Big leg drop by Taker and he gets ready for the choke slam. HBK tags himself in on Taker’s hand, comes in and hits the Sweet Chin Music on JBL to get the pinfall and the win.

Winners: Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker

After the match, HBK rolls out of the ring taunting The Undertaker. Taker chases HBK up the ramp but stops at the top as HBK flees to the back. Taker’s music starts to play and he turns his head. As he does this, Shawn comes running out from the back and lays Taker out with a big Sweet Chin Music. HBK taunts Taker some more before going to the back. RAW goes to commercial with Taker laid out on the ramp.

– Backstage we see Vickie Guerrero with a phone in her hand. Edge walks up and it’s awkward between the two. Vickie says she doesn’t know what to say and hasn’t talked to Edge in a week but she feels horrible. Edge tells her to stop talking and he has been thinking and wants to tell her something. Edge says he forgives her. Vickie says Big Show forced himself on her and talks about how big he is. Edge says Show doesn’t love Vickie, he is using her and she fell for it. Edge calls Show a home wrecker and says he will pay. Edge tells her what they have is real. Edge says he blames all this on John Cena and says it wouldn’t have bothered him if he didn’t know. Vickie says she wants Edge to take Cena apart tonight and if he lays a finger on her tonight, even accidentally, then he is out of the match at WrestleMania. Vickie says she hopes Edge wins at WrestleMania. They kiss and embrace as the crowd boo’s.

– We see a video of what happened with Orton and Triple H last week. Lawler says Triple H posted bail and was released but Randy Orton didn’t press charges. They announce Triple H vs. Cody Rhodes on tonight’s RAW.

– Todd Grisham is backstage with Legacy. Orton is pacing around pissed off. He asks why Orton didn’t press charges. Orton says Triple H is a homicidal maniac who broke into his house and traumatized his wife. Orton says she may never be the same. He says HHH was charged with aggravated assault, trespassing and assault with a deadly weapon. Orton says HHH won’t go to prison thanks to him so his debt will be paid at WrestleMania. Instead of a public court of law, Orton will take care of Triple H and at WrestleMania it will be Orton’s low as he passes sentence on him becoming new WWE Champion.

Jillian Hall, Layla and Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly, Melina and Mickie James

In the arena we see Layla, Jillian, Beth Phoenix, Rosa and Santino Marella making their way to the ring. We take a quick commercial break before coming back. Out comes their opponents Kelly Kelly, Mickie James and WWE Women’s Champion Melina. Santino joins Lawler and Cole for commentary.

Mickie and Beth start the match off with Mickie in control. She decks Jillian on the apron. Beth decks Mickie and starts stomping on her, using the ropes. Mickie fights to her feet but gets knocked back down by a shoulder block. Beth drops an elbow but Mickie rolls out of the way. Melina gets tagged in and runs in to deck Jillian and Layla. Melina fights Beth off and gets a 2 count.

Beth backs Melina in the corner but Melina comes right out of it and takes her to the mat. Beth counters and drops Melina with a big slam for a 2 count that Mickie James breaks up. The Divas end up on the floor as Santino goes over to get involved. Mickie kicks him below the belt. In the ring, Melina gets the pinfall and the win over Beth as the face Divas head to the back together.

Winners: Melina, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James

– We get another trailer for WWE’s 12 Rounds.

Tripe H vs. Cody Rhodes

Back from commercial and the WWE Champion Triple H is making his way to the ring as Lilian Garcia does introductions. Triple H does his entrance before Cody Rhodes come making his way to the ring by himself.

As Cody enters the ring, Orton’s Voices hits and out he comes with Ted DiBiase to the top of the ramp. Cody tries to attack Triple H but The Game unloads on him and throws him over the top rope. Triple H goes to the floor and starts throwing Cody all over the place and finally back in the ring. HHH pulls a sledgehammer out from under the ring as Orton and DiBiase slowly walk down the ramp. Triple H hits the Pedigree on Cody and lays him out.

Orton and DiBiase approach the ring as Triple H calls for something in the air. A steel cage starts to lower over the ring as Orton and DiBiase retreat. The cage lowers over the ring with Cody and Tripe H inside of it. Orton and DiBiase are furious. The bell now rings and the match is underway as Triple H starts hitting Cody with rights. Orton climbs the cage and Triple H throws Cody into him, sending him to the floor. He does the same to DiBiase.

Orton and DiBiase keep getting knocked from the cage wall as Triple H throws Cody into them as they try to climb. Orton is looking inside the cage pissed off as Triple H drops down and they come face to face. Ted is almost at the top of the cage but Triple H swings the hammer at him and he falls. Cody staggers to his feet and Triple H lays him out with the sledgehammer. Triple H covers Cody for the pinfall and the win as Orton and Ted look on from outside the cage.

Winner: Triple H

After the match, Triple H drops down again and comes face to face with Orton. Triple H climbs the top of the cage, takes a seat and looks down at Orton as we go to replays of what just went down. During replays it looks like there’s a ton of blood on the mats outside the ring where Ted DiBiase was knocked off. It looked like it was already there. Maybe it was a drink spilled? RAW goes to commercial as Triple H looks on at Orton and DiBiase through the cage, with the sledgehammer.

– Back from commercial and we see a clip of Ric Flair’s arrival earlier. Lawler and Cole tease Flair facing Jericho tonight.

Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler

Rey Mysterio’s music hits in the arena and he comes out to a big pop from the Texas crowd. Rey’s opponent Dolph Ziggler is already in the ring waiting. Cole announces Rey will be on SmackDown this week.

Dolph tries to introduce himself to Rey but he’s not having it. They lock up but Dolph gets the best and drops a series of elbow drops for a 2 count. A big elbow for another 2 count. Cole announces Rey has challenged JBL to defend the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania. Dolph applies a hold on Rey and tosses him around.

Dolph continues working over Rey. Rey takes Dolph down and thrusts him into the ring post. Rey comes leaping off the ropes with a seated senton and a hurrancarana dropping Dolph for the 619. Rey hits the 619 and comes flying off the top rope with a splash on Dolph for the pinfall and the win.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

– Back from commercial and Chris Jericho’s music hits. Jericho comes out, dressed to wrestle, and makes his way to the ring. We see clips of Jericho attacking the WWE Legends over the past few weeks. The crowd gives Jericho some major heat. Jericho says thanks to Ric Flair’s interference last week, he’s not going to WrestleMania and he’s not happy about it. Jericho said he challenged Flair to come out of retirement to face him tonight. Jericho says tonight will be his WrestleMania.

Jericho says Flair has been waiting for over a year to come out of retirement and now he is giving him the chance. Lots of heat here for Jericho as he runs down Flair, calling him a washed up has been. Jericho tells Flair to take the chance and come on out. Ric Flair’s music hits and out comes the WWE Hall of Famer to the ramp with a mic.

Flair says even though he knows he can beat Jericho, he is officially retired as an active competitor but make no mistake – he will always be the man. Flair says he will not tarnish his great retirement and send-off given to him and won’t let everyone down. Flair says he can’t wrestle Jericho but has found some men that can. Out comes Superfly Snuka, followed by Ricky Steamboat and Roddy Piper. They all head to the ring as Piper’s music plays. Jericho is surrounded by Legends.

Flair gets in the ring and the other Legends get up on the apron, surrounding Jericho. They all close in on him. Steamboat goes for Jericho’s leg and Piper & Snuka do the same. This doesn’t look so good. Jericho scrambles out of the ring but gets clocked by a right hand by Ric Flair. Jericho heads to the back as the WWE Legends yell things from the ring while Flair’s music plays.

– We cut to a WrestleMania highlight package with clips from WrestleMania 15 in 1999 with Brawl For All and The Rock vs. Steve Austin. We go back to commercial.

– Back from commercial and Todd Grisham tracks Chris Jericho down. He says the Legends are losers who won’t give it up. Jericho says he was attacked and assaulted by four men at once. Jericho says it’s time he teaches the Legends something about embarrassment. Jericho challenges Snuka, Steamboat and Piper to a match at WrestleMania and says he will have his WrestleMania moment. As far as Flair goes, Jericho demands he show up at WrestleMania to be in the corner of the Legends to watch what he does to them. Jericho tells Mickey Rourke he will buy him a front row seat for WrestleMania so he can see what is happening to all his friends. Jericho says he is going to put them all out of the misery and walks off.

MVP, CM Punk and Kofi Kingston vs. Shelton Benjamin, Kane and Mark Henry

All six-men are in the ring as Jericho’s segment is over. Finlay, Hornswoggle and Christian are doing commentary as Kofi and Shelton go at it in the ring. The commentary is real distracting. Henry gets tagged in and beats down Kofi some more.

MVP is tagged in and comes in to work over Henry. Henry tags in Kane who comes in and backs MVP into the corner. MVP counters and hits the big running boot in the corner on Kane as the MITB briefcase hangs above the ring. All six-men enter the ring and taunt each other now as the ref tries to regain control. We cut to commercial break.

Back from commercial and Kane is working over Kofi. During the break, Kane dropped Kofi with a huge boot to the face. Kane hits a big slam now for a 2 count on Kofi. Shelton comes in now and continues the assault on Kofi. Shelton hits a big belly to belly suplex and keeps control over Kofi. Kofi finally tags in Punk who comes in off the top and lays out Shelton. Punk with a big kick off the ropes and the big running knee in the corner followed by the bulldog for a 2 count as Kane makes the save.

Kofi and Kane end up on the floor. MVP sends Henry to the floor and hits Shelton from behind. CM Punk catches Shelton in the GTS to get the pinfall and the win.

Winners: CM Punk, MVP and Kofi Kingston

After the match, MVP gets in the ring where CM Punk is having his hand raised. MVP pushes Punk and they playfully taunt each other under the briefcase.

– We cut to another 12 Rounds package focusing on Cena’s girlfriend Molly in the movie.

– Backstage we see Vickie Guerrero in her referee shirt. Big Show is sitting on her couch and she asks him what he’s doing here. He asks surprised. He says don’t believe Edge. Vickie says Show is just using her to get into WrestleMania and he says it isn’t true. Show says she pursued him and they both know he is anatomically superior to Edge and she says that isn’t the point. Show tells her to calm down. Show says Edge doesn’t love her but he does. Show plants a kiss on Vickie and tells her she looks sexy in that shirt before walking off. Back to commercial.

– Outside the arena Todd Grisham is catching up with Triple H. He asks how Triple H got Vickie Guerrero to lower the cage. Triple H gets in his car and we see Stephanie McMahon. Triple H kisses her before driving off.

Edge vs. John Cena with Vickie Guerrero as Special Referee

Lilian Garcia introduces Vickie Guerrero. Vickie makes her way to the ring, ready to referee, as we go to commercial break. Back from the break and Vickie is waiting in the ring as the World Champion Edge makes his way to the ring. If Cena even touches Vickie in this match, he is out of the match at WrestleMania. Vickie applauds Edge as he enters the ring. John Cena’s music hits next and out he comes to a big pop.

Vickie calls for the bell to start the match. They lock up and Edge takes Cena down with a headlock. The crowd is behind Cena as he throws Edge. Edge hits a big right hand on Cena that sends him to the mat. Edge works Cena over in the corner now. Cena hits a big suplex on Edge for a pin but Vickie doesn’t count, she just stands there. Cena gets up and is pissed but Edge decks him from behind and starts stomping away.

They run the ropes and Edge throws Cena over the top rope to the floor. Cena is down on the outside. Edge follows and slams Cena’s head into the announcers table. Edge throws Cena head-on into the steel steps. Edge rolls back in the ring for some heat. Edge brings Cena back in the ring and gets ready for the spear. Cena ducks the spear and hits a big shoulder on Edge followed by another. Cena hits a big body drop on Edge and hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle, taunting Vickie. Cena goes for the Shuffle but Vickie lays her body over Edge and Cena can’t hit the move. Vickie moves and Cena hits it anyway. Cena picks Edge for the former FU but Vickie saves him. Cena applies the STF on Edge. Vickie comes from behind and locks the STF on Cena. Big Show’s music hits and out he comes.

Show hits the ring and throws down with Cena. Edge decks from Cena behind. Show and Edge double team on Cena now as Vickie just watches. They tie Cena’s arm in the ropes and he’s just there helpless. Edge spears Cena as he’s tangled in the ropes. Vickie gets involved and all three of them work over Cena. Show nails some big body blows. Show connects with a big right hand to the face. All of a sudden Edge spears Show and lays him out. Vickie looks confused now. Edge raises his hands as Show is down and Cena is still stuck in the ropes. RAW goes off the air with Cena dazed, tangled in the ropes. That’s the ending?
