News on Chris Jerico’s Rock Band, Booker T/WWE Update

– Earlier this week, we reported that World Wrestling Entertainment had approached several stars booked for a “Legends of Wrestling” fan fest during WrestleMania weekend hosted by Booker T’s charity to appear at WWE’s WrestleMania festivities instead. Torrie Wilson, Nick Bockwinkel, Tito Santana, and Ron Simmons are among the names that were booked for Booker T’s show that backed out and signed deals with WWE to appear at their Fan Axxess events. Booker T tells the Houston Press that he’s not bothered by WWE’s antics. “It’s not going to stop anything, we’re still going to go forward with it. We’re just replacing those people with actually bigger names.” He added that he’s not trying to take away from WrestleMania by hosting his own charity event in Houston that weekend. “I don’t think me doing my charity is going to hurt the revenue of WrestleMania, or hurt the Hall of Fame,” Booker said. “We’re not doing this, you know, to hurt WrestleMania … or ride their coattails or anything.” WWE spokesperson Bob Zimmerman claims he didn’t know anything about the situation. “I don’t even know what his charity deal is, to be perfectly honest with you.”

— Chris Jericho’s band FOZZY has signed a worldwide deal with Australia’s Riot! Entertainment for the summer release of the group’s fourth album, “Chasing The Grail”. Jericho tells, “I’m very excited to know that the new FOZZY record is going to be released by John Howarth and Riot! Riot! was by far the biggest supporter of FOZZY’s last album, ‘All That Remains’, and did everything they could to spread the Fozzpel not only across Australia, but around the world as well. As a result, ‘All That Remains’ was by far our most successful album to date. To make this partnership even more exciting is the fact that we have written the absolute best album that we have ever done. This album will see FOZZY reaching new heights and breaking down more barriers to show all fans of heavy rock and heavy metal exactly who we are as a band. 2009 is the year of the Fozz!”
