Benoit Murders on TV, Former ECW Champ Retires, Von Erichs, More

- Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Mikey Whipwreck has announced his retirement from professional wrestling. He said Saturday was his last show. However, he will still be involved in the wrestling business as he currently trains wrestlers for the New York Wrestling Connection. Two of his school’s most famous alumni are former WWE Tag Team Champions Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder.

- ’s mother, Sulamita Heyman, passed away yesterday morning at the age of 81. She had been in poor health in recent months. Sulamita was a survivor of the Nazi Holocaust.

- Kevin Von Erich is now a grandfather as his daughter Jill gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday.

- The double murder and suicide incident is profiled on E!’s special counting down 15 horrifying acts of violence, 15 Shocking Acts of Violence. The Benoit incident came in at No. 12 on the top 15 countdown. Ring of Hell author Matthew Randazzo V was interviewed for the piece. The piece also notes the WWE suspension chaos following the incident, which saw WWE Champion , WWE World Tag Team Champion , 2009 WWE winner , , , , Gregory Helms, , Funaki and Charlie Haas named as wrestlers to have purchased illegal pharmaceuticals from an online pharmacy, a violation of the company’s drug testing program. The program replays this coming Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
