Update on Batista’s Return, WWE Releases a SmackDown Star

– At last word, is slated to return to the ring in early August from hamstring repair surgery.

– WWE.com has announced that Smackdown star Scotty Goldman has been released:

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Scotty Goldman (Scott Colton) as of February 20, 2009. WWE wishes Scott the best in all future endeavors.

Goldman had been used very infrequently on WWE televsion in the past few months and hosted the WWE.com show “What’s Crackin’ with Scotty Goldman” that was just renamed yesterday to “Good as Goldman.” On tonight’s edition of SmackDown, Goldman will actually be competing in his first televised singles match in just over five months when he squares off against . Goldman actually made his return to television two weeks ago in an Elimination Chamber qualifying battle royal. He was the first wrestler to be eliminated.
