Team 3D Member Talks About His Partner’s Injuries and Retiring

– Devon Hughes of said his tag partner Brother Ray is struggling physically. “Bodywise, he’s pretty messed up,” Hughes told Scrippsnews.com. “I saw this coming two or three years ago. There were times where even getting on a plane was hard for him. Back in the days (in the 1980s), those guys knew how to last a lot longer. For our generation, the (aging) process is sped up because of everything more we do in the ring. You can’t do all that flying and flipping and not pay a price.”

Devon said that he will continue to work as a singles wrestler even if Brother Ray opts to retire. “If Bubba decided to retire before me, he’s going to be the only one retiring,” he said. “I’m going to still be going strong.” To read the full article, visit ScrippsNews.com.

The story doesn’t mention what injuries Ray is battling, but does note that the injury angle was shot so that he could take a hiatus from wrestling. It’s also worth noting that the duo signed three-year contracts to stick with TNA last fall.
