WWE in Boston, Maria Responds to Critics, Lilian Update

– As noted earlier, ring announcer Lilian Garcia missed last Monday’s RAW in Toronto, her first absence on the show in a year and a half. We can confirm that she was on winter vacation in Spain for a few days this past week, hence her absence from Monday’s RAW. She will be back at this Monday’s show in Manchester, New Hampshire. Garcia resided in Madrid, Spain for the first eight years of her life due to her father’s employment with the American Embassy, and was schooled on an American military base, leading her to describe herself as a “military brat” as well as “La Esponola Boricua” (the Puerto Rican Spaniard).

– WWE returns to the site of last month’s Survivor Series pay-per-view for a RAW/ECW taping in March. The next WWE event at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009. Tickets to the event go on sale on Saturday, January 17th at 11:00am.

– SmackDown Diva Maria posted a blog on the WWE Universe site responding to people criticizing her for not being a great wrestler. “I am not a person to respond to anger and cruelty but lately I have had such a hard time even getting on this site,” Maria said addressing the criticism. “Mind you I do not claim to be the greatest wrestler or the quickest learner. I work hard, I get in the ring, (and) I try and still can’t win. … Wrestling is hard. I love it and that is what keeps me going. I love what I do.” Maria added more on the negative comments. “If you want to be negative that is okay. I just can’t read your comments cause negativity breeds negativity. I refuse to get down on myself. I could lose a million times and mess up a thousand things and as long as I love being out there I continue to march on.”
