– In celebration of the 25th anniversary of wrestling’s first annual supercard, Starrcade, WWE 24/7 is airing a five-part special called “The Essential Starrcade” counting down the top 25 matches in its illustrious history — as voted on by the fans. Here are the five matches featured in the first edition of the show: 25) Hollywood Hogan vs. “Rowdy” (Starrcade 1996), 24) vs. The Great Muta, Iron Man Challenge Tournament (Starrcade 1994), WCW Tag Team Champions Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & vs. Barry Windham and Flyin’ Brian Pillman (Starrcade 1992), 22) WCW World Heavyweight Champion vs. (Starrcade 1998), 21) Battlebowl Battle Royal (WCW Starrcade 1991). “Mean” Gene Okerlund, who hosts the special, said Sting garnered the most fan votes for his matches on WWE.com.

– During WWE’s “” tour of Europe this month, THQ will be the sponsor. They have plans to promote the forthcoming SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 video game through on-site marketing on the twenty-two-date tour, which includes stops in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, and Belgium.
